GIVING A NEW COAT of paint is another way to give a fresh look to your old and tired looking wooden boxes. However, repainting it can be quite messy, either with oil paint or just spray paint.
My husband brought home two wooden boxes and I was thinking we need to nail them to the wall as box shelves. The house is running out of space and the only way is to nail them to wall so they will be out of the way.
At first I decided to give them a fresh coat of paint as they really are an eyesore. So, we bought a 1litre white paint for wood at the hardware and it cost us around RM38 a can and I took the entire day to paint the box. It cause a bit of mess at the porch.
Then I saw a friend of mine posted her DIY on facebook. She covered her old blender and water dispenser with wallpaper. It was very inspiring. So I thought, I’m getting fed up with paint up to my sleeve so off I went to my all-in-one hardware store MrDIY to look for a roll of self-adhesive wallpaper. Unfortunately during my visit, the designs were limited so I just picked the one that I think would look good. Not to mention it just suits my passion – travelling. What is more important, a thick role of adhesive wallpaper just cost me RM8.90. So here it goes.

Took me a whole night to finish cutting and sticking the wallpaper to the box. It wasn’t a pro job, obviously! But not bad.

Husband using just one big bracket to support the box and another two smaller brackets at the sides to hold it together. Note, on the right is the box that I painted with white for a more rustic look.

Both boxes are up on the wall. One is to store bread, cookies, crisps cans and condiments while the white one is for my husband to put his stuff, hence the higher box.
